Good Day all- The wife and I are planning a trip from Chicago to Charlote NC, we are planning on driving AT least 7 to 8hrs which is at least halfway before calling it the day. I have no intension on setting up the T.T. or disconnecting the T.V.we just want To rest and spend the night,then hit the road first thing in the AM. Should we make a reservation to a CG a week before , or should we just pick one on the halfway mark?:h

I would be making a reservation. I cannot conceive driving eight hours and taking a chance there would be no place to park at the end of a loooong day.

At the least, I'd call ahead and see if they expect to be full.

If I know for sure where I will stop I make a reservation. If I only know approximately where I will be I find RV parks in the area using rvparkreviews.com and call ahead as early as I know for sure to make sure they have a site. I don't do Walmarts, rest areas, or parking lots.Last thing I want at the end of a long drive is to pull into an RV park only to find it is already full.
