There is no air brake endorsement. If you don't pass the air brake test you get a restriction.

I think it's a good idea to get the required license to drive the RV & trailer that your state requires. Texas is the same and I got my class B several years ago.
If nothing else, insurance cannot use the excuse of not covering you as not being licensed. Have seen that happen although rare.

I went through the licensing issue (also from Maryland). We wanted to purchase a Class C rv (GVW over 26,000#). I have a Class A license but no one else in my family does. We discussed getting the MD Class B RV license but reality is that no one else but me would be doing much driving and doubtful our kids would ever take a trip on their own.
We ended up finding a Class C diesel with GVW of 26,000# so a Class B license is not required. Despite that I will be doing a lot of training with others so I feel confident they can safely handle this rig on the road. Amazing what 1 little # triggers. Can't wait for it to be built.

PS - I'll bet there are a lot of rv owners in Maryland driving without the proper licensing. Dealers don't seem to care to inform a special license is needed.

Bought my rig in Florida a year ago. Was somewhat aware of the need to upgrade my license then but it's not simple to upgrade before you own a rig that you need the upgrade for. Dealer in Fla never mentioned the issue of my drivers license.

Florida requires nothing more than a regular driver's licence. RVs are exempted from CDL licensing as long as the vehicle is being used for recreation.

From the Florida DOT site:

CDL Exemptions

The following persons are exempt from the requirements to obtain a commercial driver license:

Drivers of authorized emergency vehicles that are equipped with extraordinary audible warning devices that display red or blue lights and are on call to respond to emergencies;or
Military personnel driving military vehicles; or
Farmers transporting farm supplies or farm machinery, or transporting agricultural products to or from the first place of storage or processing or directly to or from market, within 150 miles of their farm; or
Drivers of recreational vehicles used for recreational purposes; or
Drivers who operate straight trucks (single units) that are exclusively transporting their own tangible personal property which is not for sale.
An employee of a publicly owned transit system who is limited to moving vehicles for maintenance or parking purposes exclusively within the restricted-access confines of a transit system's property.
