A lot of people don't understand the newer regulations on Class 2 Controlled prescriptions. We had to really research it when the new regs kicked in last October.
They can't be faxed, called in or sent to the pharmacy electronically. They must be handwritten by the doctor.
But, a doctor can post date handwritten scripts for up to 90 days supply. We are on a trip now and my wife took 2 postdated scripts with her. We had one filled in NM last week, and we plan to fill the last one in CO next month.
For a few months, her doc also wanted her to come in each month to pick up the script. As he got more comfortable with the new regs she had discussions with him about travelling. He eventually agreed to postdate the scripts.
Now, my doctor would not do it for me if I were to ask so it can depend on the doctor and their own policy. But it can be done for 90 days as the feds allow it.
