buying meds in Mexico

We are thinking of taking a drive down to Mission (in Rockport area now) Another couple would like to go to get prescriptions filled. Do you have to have a written presc to take to the pharmacy or just an empty medication bottle with label? I know one of the meds is Ativan (for anxiety) and one is a cholesterol med. I really don't want to go to Mexico and then find out that they can't get there meds. Would much rather spend the time around Mission. I think we would be going into Progresso if able to get meds.

    cholesterol med no problem, no RX needed, just know what you want and the correct dose. It is possible the Ativan could be a controlled drug, there may be stricter rules for that but I am not sure.

    Some times you should have a prescriptions from your home Dr. to get your idems back over to the US side. Not always, but sometimes.

    No but there cheap, just like most RVer's.

    Better read the link, Ativan is on the controlled list.

    We have purchased meds in Nuevo Progresso Mexico for many years without any issues. So do many of our friends.

    Have never had a problem. One medication that my wife was taking for her diabetes she was getting in the US in 90 day quantities in a pill bottle. We purchased the same medicine manufactured by the same company in Mexico packed in individual blister packs for roughly one fourth the cost. Her sugar levels have never varied when using the medicines purchased in Mexico. I can't speak for everywhere but we trust the pharmacy we purchase from in Algadones Mexico.
