Mercedes Texas

We are planning, for the first time, to spend next winter in Mercedes Tx. I am a bit concerned about it being so close to the Mexican border with some of the problems I have heard about happening in border towns. Could someone tell me if it is safe along the border and if going to Nuevo Progreso Mexico is also safe for the average person to visit. We are hoping to stay at LLano Grande RV resort for about 3 months beginning the middle of December.

    We go to Mission, TX for the winter for the last 5 years. We go over to Progreso, Mexico been fine with us. Like any place you have to keep and eye open to your surrounding.

    Unless you're in a cartel and actively running drugs, I think you'll be fine.

    Should be fine after they get the wall built. Watch out for underground tunnels though.
