Mercury Insurance closing down rv insurance in Nov. 2013, looking for new coversge, reading all your posts it seems Erie (never heard of) Progressive or Geico might be the best to get. Always had Good Sam Road assistance never a problem when needed. Any recommendations. I dont know if they are all offered in NJ.Thanks John

if you're not a fulltimer check out State Farm as well. we've had SF for years and have been very happy with them.

Erie doesn't write insurance in NJ.

Would never buy Erie. They paid out $200 for "towing", on our boat that sank in a slip after 15 years of paying premiums for full coverage. On doing a search we found out they aren't known for paying on losses. Needless to say we're not Erie customers or customer of that agent any more.

Have had good luck with Blue Sky RV Insurance. They only do RV's and are write policies in most states.http://www.blueskyrvinsurance.com/

Huh? Erie paid us full value on a barn $40K and replacement on machinery for 2 tractors, 1 finish mower, generator, log splitter and equipment destroyed in the barn. However if you are former military you are eligible for USAA

Rates will differ not only by state but also by zip code within the same state. If I lived 2 miles from where I do now, my insurance would cost ~$250 per year more.

$200 is most likely the policy limit on your policy. What is paid on a claim has nothing to do with how long you are a customer. For that reason I do not have towing, rental car or any extended warranties.

I have Foremost by Farmers so far so good, had to use the tow only after a month with them and they handled it perfectly.
