Michelin LTX MS2

I have looked and have seen random posts about these tires, and it seems that "everybody" has been given these in the recall that Michelin came out with or had changed over to them.

I would like to know what you all think of them.

The ride quality, handling, over all performance in your application, noise and such.

I don't want to open this up to a heated discussion on which brand is better than another or any such thing, I just want to know what people think about this particular tire and how it has or has not performed after the change.

Thanks..

  • I just had my second set of (MS2) Michelin installed yesterday. The ride is great on my Class C diesel. The big problem is that they run out of time before they wear out. But I guess with every good thing there is a bad thing. Happy camping.
  • A few years back, when it was time to replace tires on my 2500HD, I bought a set of MS2 from Costco. As soon as I left Costco, truck felt like I was driving on ice. I almost turned around and had them taken off. It lasted a day or so. A year and half later I notice sidewalls had cracks, took back to Costco. They said the sidewalls weren't bad enough to replace them. Last year Michelin had a recall on the MS2 tires. It was for a tire 2 sizes smaller than I had. I called Michelin about how bad my sidewalls had gotten, (cracked all around. They told me tires were not covered under the recall and they don't warranty cracking sidewalls. They told me the tire would be covered when tire tread came apart or sidewall blew out. I removed the tires even with plenty of tread left. My safety pulling 5th wheel were worth more than those tires. I replaced them with Cooper tires. The ride is good, wear has been good (guaranteed 60,000 miles), no cracking and best of all they are stamped Made in USA.
  • I can only compare them to the earlier version. I purchased the M&S a few years ago. Michelin sent me a recall notice (I am glad I filled out the on line paperwork) so I was able to get in early and get a new set of tires (MS2). I had put about 2~3K miles on the M&S and had just come back from a trip to FL. I found the new set, the MS2, to ride much better. The speedometer also read closer to the speed the GPS showed. On the MS the error was - 5mph when traveling 55-60 mph. I was running the same tire pressure in each set of tires. I noticed that the tires did not take much in the way of weights from the wheel balancing - a good sign. I do not really push the RV in the corners so I can not speak in depth about handling, but turn in and road feel are about the same as the earlier set.
I am very happy with the MS2 and would likely buy a new set if again in two to three years if the tires continue to hold up as they are now. I have traveled from VA to FL 4 times as well as on trips up to NH and PA in addition to the local trips so the tires have some miles on them now.
  • I have had no problems with my new MS2 tires. My experience is they ride and handle nicely.
