After less than a .00001 % failure rate I would not hesitate to keep using mine either. In fact mine are in the recall and I will still use mine until the new ones arrive. Think about it. Only around 200 reported failures in one hundred and fifty million. I bet the other brands have at least the same failure rate but don't issue recalls. Those aren't all pieces of Michelins you are constantly dodging on the highway.
You are probably referring to what I would call the "catastrophic failure rate", where the previous design M&S Michelin tires would fail in such a way as to dangerously separate/blow out in the sidewall or tread region going down the road in a Class C. No tire manufacturer wants this and hopefully the statistics on this happening are very low for all tire manufacturers. (Not counting the problems the towable folks have with their tires.)
What I'm also very interested in is the "premature sidewall cracking rate" of the previous design Michelin's M&S tires, where tens of thousands of owners threw away otherwise good money replacing their Michelin M&S tires "early" because of cracks in the sidewalls.
Two or three years ago I replaced our Class C's Michelin M&S tires (all seven!) with Michelin M&S2 tires. Sadly, the replaced tires had a bunch of good tread left on all of them - what a waste of (my) $$$ to have to replace them!!
Michelin's new M&S2 design uses different materials in their sidewalls and I'm expecting/hoping for much greater crack-free life out of these on our Class C. Just as a data-point: I had a set of Cooper tires on my 4X4 pickup for at least twelve years with no sidewall or tread interface cracking. The whole time when not on the road the truck was out in the backyard in the weather/sun with no tire covers or other protection from the elements. Finally I replaced them based solely on tread wear ... which is the way it should be with modern tire technology, IMHO.
