I had an appliance store and I have installed hundreds of over the range microwaves. It is no wonder the unit fell. Go on line to the m/w mfg site and look at install directions. The tie downs at the front stop bouncing and stabilize the unit. I would mount a shelf securely above the m/w and use it for front support. The large bracket on the back wall carries the weight of the unit. If you look at the install directions you will see how the proper mounting carries and spreads the weight of the unit. Best luck.
