- inkyExplorerA friend of mine has a Newmar mid-engine. Access is from the drivers side outdoor panel and an access door in the kitchen floor maybe 2' x 4'.
- LVJ58ExplorerHere's a couple of old news releases on Spartan's ME 2 chassis:
http://www.rvbusiness.com/2000/11/spartan-intros-mid-engine-me2-chassis/
http://www.rvbusiness.com/2002/10/spartan-to-intro-redesigned-me2-chassis/ - robatthelakeExplorerVolvo built a number of highway, tour buses with a mid engine. Then several years later Spartan tried the same trick.
The concept is great ,the execution had some problems.
If I found one that was being offered at a reasonable price I would consider buying it.
I really liked some of the floor plans ! - wallynmExplorerWe looked at them but in 02 we decided we were buying our last motor home and we did not see any thing we just had to have. As I remember it was put on a Spartan chassis.
Read me
Travel Supreme version
I really have not read very much good or bad about them but is was an idea that did not sell well and it came out just as the economy was tanking.
The Grandstar referenced above I suggest was the Universal Fuel Option chassis that was built for a couple of years by some company I can not remember their name company that never measured up to the Spartan chassis.

What's the feedback on mid verse pusher?
It's a 2007. - Pop-Pop_CExplorerWe had a 2007 NEWMAR Grandstar,3752.Maeaured a little better than 38'.
Had a 330 HP. CUMMINS, WITH A 6 speed Allison. Towed a Honda CRV.
Unit worked well .had ample power. The thing I found that it was a gas frame.
No airbags ,course they can be added. Had problems with of all things the windshield
Wipers. Freightliner or the NEWMAR dealer could not resolve. Imagin going down the road the it starts to rain and no wipers. Also there was a noise in the front end . Freight liner could not find, said it was in the coach. We sold it after about a year and half and went to a 38' FIVER AND A
One ton Dooley. I believe if we had had cooperation of either supplier we would still have it.
I,too liked the idea of the FRED. Noise was not a problem, nor was economy.
Now this is my IMO. if your really interested take it to a independent Mech. For a ck up!!! - PeralkoExplorerThe fact they made it for a short time and don't make it anymore should be all the feedback you need!

I've never seen one but wonder how you access the engine. - rv2goExplorer III have always liked the concept of the mid-engine. I have not seen one in person.
I would suggest that you go over to the Newmar Forum and ask for thoughts.
