Minnesota to Florida via the Smokies
We are making our last snowbird trip to Florida (moving down permanently) and decided to go thru the smokies. I don't want to screw with narrow roads if possible so I would try to stay on the freeway...

Look at 75 to 40 to Waynesville to 441 to Macon and then hop back on 75 all the way down to Port Charlotte. That route gets you into the mountains, but on good roads and gets you away from the mess in Atlanta
