Moab, Utah advice

We will be visiting The Arches N P in September. We have a 30 ft class A towing a Honda CRV. My question is. Is taking rt 128 from Moab to Rt.6 a good idea? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks John McDonough

  • What we do each year is to do an internet search of "Tourist" Utah(or whatever state we plane to travel to).
That will bring up a listing of various websites and you search for the Official State travel site. For Utah it is Utah Travel Guide
We have found a similar website for every state. They will send you, for free, maps, and various brochures detailing the various things of interest in the State. This will usually contain information about festivals, etc that are going on at different times of the year.
We usually build up a file box containing the information on every state that we plane to visit or travel through on each trip.

40 for a used copy in "fair" condition... I suppose good knowledge is invaluable, but is this out of print book from 12 years ago really worth it?
  • Get Mountain Directory West for your travels in the western mountains.
  • Take the La Sal Loop road up through the mountains around Moab and also plan on going out to Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands NP. From the loop road you can see Arches NP in the distance as well as see plenty of wild life it you get up early enough.
  • It's only a 45 minute trip so you should be fine. The drive is great and at about 6-7 minute mark on the film you will start to see a few of the Boondocking CG's on the river.

    So Yes,

    Or look Here
  • Are there any places to spend the night, fuel etc. Sorry forgot to ask in the first post. McD

    Great Idea!

I'll drive out of my way to make the drive in my signature Coach never an issue. For years we would be the only traffic on the road now I think it's been 'DISCOVERED"

    bol,
  • it was just fine when I took it many years ago. several pull off places along the river for boondocking as I recall.
