Why not use Ford Synthetic Blend as recommended by the manufacturer?
When I drove F450 with 7.3 l a lot, I played with different oils and send them to lab for testing.
The Motorcraft oil that dealer put in it come the worse, even I changed it after 5k.
I did one oil change at 12k and M! did show lot of iron, but other than that still usable oil.
Dino Rotella come better than most of synthetic oils and I used synthetic version T6 just for the extra protection. Even synthetic oil change with 14 quarts is way cheaper than single fill up.
Synthetic oils do have high % of molybdenum in it. Molybdenum is known for at least 150 years to lower the friction and penetrate metal surface even for "dry" protection.
I had situation on my diesel car, where oil pump broke and the engine run for few minutes with no oil pressure. I fix the pump and few months later replaced head gasket. The engine with 292,000 miles still had honing marks on cylinder walls.
I prize synthetic oil for protecting the engine with no oil pressure.
