I have a theory about how motorhomes are built. Engineers draw them out and build them but these same engineers have never used one in every aspect especially over time
You and I have the same theory...and it's not just about oil fill tubes! :D
When doing one's own maintenance, the folks with the side radiators seem to have the advantage as from the ones I've looked at, basic maintenance items seem to be much more serviceable. Rear radiator units usually don't seem to have anything very handy...usually up so high one cannot get even a quart of oil tipped up. Was at an RV show recently and saw one with the fill tubes for everything not only way up high, but actually several inches to the side of the flip-up access door, so not only the height, but a solid rear wall within inches of the tubes to deal with! Another had a rear access door with no mechanism to hold it up...except the user's head, I guess. What are these engineer's thinking!
As one person mentioned, I get out the step ladder and have my own designed funnels, with flexible rubber hoses attached, to do fluid fills...except for transmission fluid changes, where I use a pump.
