No thanks, I would rather have a RV built on a US MADE Chassis Be it CHEVY or Ford or any of the others.
While Australia has to import their chassis for the RV market we have a large Chassis Building Industry to supply the many RV MFG's all dependent on sales in the US and CANADA and as long as we support that market it will stay strong and continue to grow towards a more efficient and quality product.
Well stated indeed!!
When I bought our 2005 model E450 small Class C in 2006, the Ford cutaway van had the highest U.S. content of any vehicle, period, available in the U.S.. I believe content was reported to be somewhere between 95%-97% at the time. I don't know what the percentage for a 2014 Ford cutaway would be today - probably, sadly, considerably less.
We are right now sitting in Boron, CA camping at a desert campground at the beginning of another RV trip. It's hard to beat good old "American Iron" under certain rigs. I laugh at some of those "pansey-looking" trucks from other places under those funny looking RVs from other places. I feel like we have a real truck under us - nothing less. Rock solid feeling with it's wide rear dually stance, stable as the day is long, no lane wondering, now cross-wind wondering, reliable, and climbs hills without a whimper. It doesn't get any better than that. ;)
