My best solution is , in addition to the pre roll check list we will make, I thought I could hang the bus keys so they cover the control switch. That way I would remember tolower the dish before I pick up the keys.
There is nothing to prevent you from driving off with the dish still extended. It also takes a few minutes to retract once you push the button for it to stow. What some people do is put flag of some type on their steering wheel when the dish is extended to remind them to stow it before they drive off. Some others just use a check list whenever they want to get underway. If you rely on memory, at some point you may get interrupted and lose track of what needs to be done.
