Yup, the 54 sees the remote through the wall. My HR24s will too but I have other components that misbehave if I use that setting inside. On the MH we are just resigned to use a basket full of remotes. TV has one HDMI input and it's connected to the cheesy little home theater which has one as well. I ran an HDMI input to the home theater connected to a 4 input switch gizmo. That has Roku, Direct receiver, blu ray connected and one empty input for later. All tested, all working.
I said your response was funny because it's a ***** shoot calling Direct. Their rep told me I had to deal with their RV department to get a receiver for the Traveler. The RV department told me I had to get my receiver from Weingrard. I did so because Weingard would ship directly to my dealer which is /was 60 miles away. I figured wrongly that there may be a special receiver required for the Traveler. Now I'm out $200 because we aren't even using the receiver they told me I had to have. The Genie 54 works great. OTOH, I got lucky with the tech they sent yesterday and all problems solved. Of course I can't send the Weingard box back to Direct because I didn't buy it there. The upside is that we still have room to record DWTS on the RV and at home too. All other components are RF so we just have to leave the cabinet door cracked to work them. Hey, it's only money.
I'll just have to find the best way to switch locals. When you call Direct, the automated lady wants you to explain what you want. If what you want isn't in her vocabulary you punch 0 for tech support. Likely as not you get a tech who knows absolutely nothing and after wasting an hour will kick you upstairs to a supervisor. That usually gets the issue resolved if you don't get hung up on during the switch in which case you just start over. I was hoping there was a special department that could help reset your location for nationals.
And yes, cabinet depth..... There is a hole cur in the carpeted wall behind the home theater so it will fit. All the other components fit without cutting. Genie is smaller than the HR24...win win.
