As far as the Highway Use Tax, it is 3%, but capped at $2000 for recreational vehicles. The cap is up from $1500 and was raised in March of this years, I think.

So there is a chance I'll have to pay $1500-2000 just to register the MH?! Is that annual or the one time "welcome to NC" ? It's robbery.
Unfortunate but true....but yes, it is a one time fee. But look on the bright side...NC has one of the highest gas taxes in the nation too! Oh, wait, that's not a bright side.... uh.... Wilmington is a really cool place and there's an ocean right next to it! ;-)
Thanks. Property tax in NC is still about 1/3 of MD. Income tax is lower too. So for me it's still cheaper. But man what a hit when you come in the door.
