MPG for Ford V10

Getting ready to put coach into storage and just figured out how much gas I used for the season. I have seen lots of people ask this question so hear goes.I traveled 5,241 miles from March 31 to Oct 31st . We bought 744.9 gallons and averaged 7.2 to 7.5 miles per gallon with a cost of around 2,522 dollars. We tow a 4,700 pound Trailblazer 99% of the time . This is real world numbers and we have a 2011 Winnebago 36 ft 22,500 lbs chassis.

  • About right....I get 7.3 towing and 7.8 not towing. Cruise control on at around 62mph. Any slower, I think might be dangerous...especially on the interstates.
  • I wasn't as accurate on my accounting details as you have listed, but that sounds like it's in the ball park for the latest V-10s. Last trip we made, Houston to Las Vegas, in a new 35 foot unit with just over 1,300 on the engine at dealership. I drove at what I call a moderate speed, 63-65 mph with cruise control towing an '07 Focus on a dolly. We got 7.1 mpg for the overall trip. One thing I have found out is that when DW drives she refuses to drive over the 55-57 mph range and she gets from 6.5 to 6.9 per gallon. The tranny down shifts much sooner on the grades when she drives.
  • Sounds almost exactly what we get with a 36' Southwind with a Ford 460 V8
Looks like the V10 is getting .2 to .5 miles per gallon better.
