It's a bit hard to make out in the picture, but are the intake gaskets for an EFI setup? Is that the port misalignment you can see around the ports (gasket hole compared to the intake port)?
Congratulations for spotting that! When I mistakenly replaced the lifters a few months ago I learned that the pervious owner had carbureted heads installed on my fuel injected engine which was equipped, of course, with a FI intake manifold. I searched high and low to find the mutant gaskets the mechanic had used to make the FI intake manifold work with the carbureted heads. I finally found them on eBay, the best part being that I also found the Ford part number. I may be wrong but I believe the gaskets were for a Ford 429 V8 that shares the same block and piston diameter with the 460 V8. Anyhow they allowed the engine to run even with the misaligned ports.
One of the things I'm excited about with my newly rebuilt long block assembly is that I'll finally have an engine with all the proper parts! You have to celebrate life's small victories!
