I rebuilt my first car engine back in 1967. It was a Ford 312 V8. I not only totally rebuilt it I hopped it up too with milled heads, bored .060 over, installed a more aggressive cam, and a larger carburetor. I blew my first transmission shortly thereafter (a 3-speed manual). The transmission was followed by the rear end and yet another transmission. I was back in college at the time and couldn’t afford constantly replacing drive train components, or up grading the drive train, so that was the end of my heavy foot days. But the engine always ran great! Those were fun days!
