My Infotainment System Died !

Upon my return from Florida, the River Park Infotainment System in my 2012 Winnibago ERA died. The radio and Rear camera stopped working but the GPS still worked . Went to dealer and he informed me that the unit had to be replaced and determined that the unit is out of warranty and the specific unit is no longer available. Trying to find a refurbished unit or possibly a completely new unit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a possible replacement unit. Hoping to find something that would use existing wiring etc. Thanks for your help.

Paul
  • All in one units in RVs are typically not the best quality. You're probably better off replacing the functionality with "best of breed" components. A decent GPS, a decent head unit for music and perhaps DVDs.
  • Have you tried Winnebago directly? Surely they have a source for a unit. They may of course just send you back to the dealer.
  • I will second CT, integrated devices are fine till one part fails and they you are so out of luck.
  • You could try Crutchfield, they have good pricing & selection....

  • We have a killer sounding Alpine unit with a poorly functioning and intermittent integrated GPS. After repeated attempts to have it repaired the intermittent malfunction still occurs. The co-pilot non insists we bring along the Garmin for assured operation. I agree that separate components may be the best way to go.
  • Whenever my camera dies I go into AV setup and turn it back on. Usually happens after disconnecting the battery.
  • I tried it all, from disconnecting the battery to sending the unit back to Alpine (thru the authorized dealer) and the intermittent GPS problem re occurs without rhyme nor reason. If the radio function fails I will replace everything with high quality individual components.
  • As you have found out when an all in one unit fails often most if not all functions fail as well. Even when working we do not like our infotainment center in our 2013 ERA. we use the rear camera and little else. Separate units are best and can actually be understood as to how to make them work. Consider this a great excuse to trash that piece of junk and get a good group of separate units. Calling the ERA infotainment center junk is one of the few things the wife and I totally agree on.
  • Thanks for comments. I have contacted Riverpark and they were willing to sell me a refurbished radio for $700. After some discussion they graciously offered the exact radio that they were using at shop , for free. I gladly accepted the offer and am awaiting the UPS delivery.

In trying to find a replacement radio, I found out that I would have to replace the Rear Camera as well as the replacements were all analog and the original equipment was digital (whatever that means). As well replacing parts or the harness was also possible. Consequently, I welcome the opportunity to simply drop in the exact model back into my 2012 ERA.

Hopefully everything works out. Nonetheless, I agree with the comments that this particular radio is not very user friendly. Hopefully others may comment as to the level of success they have had in replacing radio/navigation systems without incurring significant additional costs beyond that of the radio itself.

    Thanks again.
