People keep saying they wouldn't trust an old tire. If you have an old spare, putting it on the outside of one of the duals wouldn't be an issue would it? I mean, you wouldn't drive 75 mph on it, but you could drive 35 or 40 until you got to some place that could put you a new tire on. And if you blew out a front, you could still put a good tire from the back on the front and use the spare on the back.
I think an impact wrench and 20-ton bottle jack is cheap insurance.
Whenever I get new tires, which is at approx 50,000 miles, 3-4 years, I always keep the best one of them for an unmounted spare.
Since I do most of the work on my coach, I know that I need to carry two heavy duty jack stands and a 4' piece of pipe to remove a wheel. My lugs are torqued to 475 ft pounds and I have had no problem breaking my lugs loose with a 3/4" breaker bar with an extension set on a jack stand, a piece of pipe, and my weight standing on the pipe.
I use my leveler jacks to lift the coach and slip a jack stand under the corner I am working on. Not really that difficult and something I have done at home in our driveway several times. I have also changed a tire using tire irons which is not the most fun but truck tire mechanics do it all of the time.
Basically I carry all that I need and if I can't get CoachNet to send someone out in a reasonable period of time, then I'll change it myself.
