I have a similar problem and bought a pair of lined slippers that come up over my ankles along with using longer socks. I have a small 3' X 5' blanket I keep on my lap.
I have plenty of heat in the front, however my wife complains it's too hot. Unless, of course she's cold, and then I can crank on the floor heat.
But I like the idea of a small heater on my feet.
