I just winterize it, drive it to storage and park it for the winter. I've been doing that for over 10 years and never had a problem with engine, transmission, generator, coach, ties or the chassis. No oil leaks, no water leaks and the generator works just fine come spring.
Come spring just crank it up and dewinterize it. For the remainder of the rving season when not using it, it just gets parked.
Since the mh is plugged in at storage, the only thing I do while it's parked is check the water level of the batteries about every six weeks.

I'm with you with the addition of loosening the fan/serpentine belt (removes the load on all the belt driven components) and I also remove/store the batteries in my basement. I've done this for 7 years on the RV and 20+ years with various sailboats with no problems.
