Be certain it has a CAT, I just replaced the FI 460 V8 engine in my 1995 Holiday Rambler with an F53 chassis and was surprised to learn that it wasn't equipped with a CAT and never had one.

FWIW I'd take the suggestions of others and first go with the fuel filter and also check for restriction's in airflow. The fuel filters cheap and easy to replace, I even keep a spare just in case.
Oop's! Another member sent me a PM to tell me that the 1994-1997 Ford F53 460's didn't have CATs. I guess I learned something new today!
