Need Help Towing 2013 Ford Focus

After reading the Ford manual, it states to disconnect the negative black cable from the battery. Just wonder what others do after disconnect. Do you have to wrap the cable with electrical tape. I thought about looking for a battery disconnect switch. The old rocker type. Seems that all the auto stores no longer sell that type.

Any other suggestions would be great. This is first time we towed the new car.

It is automatic without the push button start system.
  • I added a cut off switch which makes it way more easy than having to disconnect the cable. Just reach under the hood and turn it off.
  • I use a leather work glove to take off the cable and then put the glove over it and push it down into the battery box, the glove holds it in there pretty tight. I have had my focus for a year now and never a problem.

  • All you need to do is make sure the cable removed can not touch back onto the battery. It can touch anything on the car since there is no power anyplace when you removed the cable.
