Need to replace all window treatments. Suggestions?

Your local window shade dealer can size and fit total block-out blinds (pull-downs for the bedroom). (We did it for our Alaska adventure to the Land of the Midnight Sun.) (Oh and YES, if you are in Fairbanks in Mid-summer, the sun never sets!!)

As for the front replacements - check MCD (http://www.mcdinnovations.com/)MCD RV Shades- we paid the price and have been very happy with the results. Individual sun screens that drop via dash panel switch and complete closure with solid blinds for the nights.

Just curious what some MCD shades cost. Do you happen to remember and are your manual or electric? I was wondering about those as I found them on a google search but just assumed they were super expensive..

In our old Class A I swapped out the day/night shades (kinda pink color :E) for nice looking wood grain horizontals custom made from Steve's blinds.

Looked great, and cost less then $250 for the entire coach.

I got real tired of fighting and fixing the day/night shades in our older MH so I put in black out roller shades that fitted into the valance area. Granted, you have to roll them up to look out but they sure keep the light out if you happen to want a nap during the day. Talk about easy on the budget too!!

MCD shades are not cheap. But they are sure nice.

When one of my day/night shades broke I came up with a "temp" quick fix for the window until I could get it repaired. I did not want to spend a lot of money on a temp fix. Which would ultimately become a permanent fixture in my MH.

Simple and inexpensive fix:

1. I bought a spring loaded extendable shower and/or curtain rod.
Surprisingly It fits perfectly to the width of a large RV window. They also make a rod that you put on and twist in the middle to extend it to fit snugly.

2. Rod fits up and under the valance on the top of the window out of sight if you have one. It will sit in front of the day/night shade. So you can leave them on the window. NO need to drill or nail anything on your RV. If you don't have a valance these rods come in a wide array of nice colors to match your RV.

3. Walmart has room darkening drapes very reasonably priced. Many Dollar General stores have the 'same' curtains at 'half' the price. Again very nice colors to choose from.

I could not believe how 'dark' my MH could be at night just by adding these room darkening drapes!

I had my day/night shades repaired but I kept the drapes on too. I then went and bought rods and drapes for all my windows! Just push the drapes to the sides when using the day/night shades.

What I ALSO found out is that in cold weather you close those room darkening drapes and what a difference! It really helps keep the cold out.

AND as we all know, those RV shades when parked at a CG at night with the lights on inside? EVERYONE can see you walking around inside in your skivvies!!

With the room darkening drapes closed over them they can't. :W

Very expensive, and mine were nice until several of them began breaking down.

Sure wish I had just restrung my old shades.

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and look at their total blackout pleated shades. We put them in the bedroom and they were perfect for sleeping. They also raised and lowered like a regular blind would...no strings like the original pleated shades.

Not a solution for blackout curtains, but we removed a couple of venetian blinds in the bathroom and galley that remained perpetually closed collecting dust and replaced them with vinyl films purchased from Home depot or online. A stained glass film and blue sky and clouds film lets the light in and brightens up the room.
