Don't deal in person
After your test drive/inspection say you'll think about it and then text the salesman an offer
Don't answer the phone calls
Negotiate strickly by text
Bought a Coachman yesterday that exact way-even shopped for and applied for financing that way
I despise high pressure and tricks/games/tactics myself
Good Luck, Mike
This is great advice. I would add to get comps from the Internet and use them to your advantage. If buying from a dealer also ask for some freebies, vent covers, slide out storage shelving, etc. I bought our coach off the Internet with one phone call to the salesperson to check availability, get details and the factory bill of sale. I emailed my offer with all the conditions including the right to cancel once we inspected and test drove. They were a little reluctant to agree but I gave them a good faith deposit to show our interest. Once we arrived I added a few more items to the wish list and walk through cleanup items and made them deal killers. Not only did they accept but they gave us more on our trade in than book value reflected. Partly because we take very good care of our things. Worst part of the process was signing all the docs and then final delivery walk through.
