New 13 Tiffen Allegro 35QBA realistic price?

Wow I got a good laugh today....Winnebago dealer who is local came back with Itasca quote...said couldnt possibly do 25% off with the huge Ford chassis shortage out there today....there is a huge shortage of coaches available, even though I have 2 units of these same floorplans on my lot....

We did buy our Gulf Stream Tour Master there. A very good place to find a good use diesel pusher too. They are a Georgetown dealer too and the high end Entegra and several other brands.

RV Direct is also a good place to find out the actual MSRP on a unit they have for sale. If you get a quote you used to be able to get the wholesale price on a unit, including options. Not sure if that's still possible. When I dealt on my Georgetown the dealer wanted to know where I got that price list. I'm sure if I'd have told him he would have turned them in to FR.

I know Des Moines RV is part of the RVOne group and they sell Forest River. I'm not sure how many motorhomes, if any, they may have in Des Moines. Might be worth a call.

Appreciate the comments on used units, but they seem so overpriced by dealers that it almost steers you to new. Plus the concern that someone traded in becuase of having so many problems...having to pay for the warranty if possible.

A few other problems with used besides not knowing what you will get....I wanted to pay cash originally, something in the 15 to 25k range. That would get me something in the 2000 year range for a class A gas, maybe a bit newer, but still taking risks that all is right with 0 warranty. I could spend more, but then I would have to finance...not favorable rates or terms financing anything older than a 2006...so again seems to steer to new.

Also, I have 4 kids...so finding an older bunkhouse model is not the easiest...that puts you to like fairly new, and then they ask enough that it makes sense to buy new. I like the idea of warranty, to include the long engine warranty on a newer one if I am going to keep it.

If I have a Forest River dealer close I would take a harder look at a Georgetown 351DS, pretty loaded at a reasonable price from Rvdirect, but then wait 8 to 10 weeks and that puts me into next year. Maybe it will be worth the wait.

You go over to http://www.tiffinrvnetwork.com/, and register. Do some snooping around and you will quickly find out which dealers will deal and which ones will not deal. You will also find out what prices you want to start at when negotiating.

When I used to sell motorhomes, I used to marvel at the number of dramatically under used motorhomes, especially diesels, that were always coming to the lot as trade-ins and or simply sold back at wholesale. The reason I say that to you is that there many really fine coaches out there, that could be purchased at many, many dollars less than a new one. Give it some thought.
