On #1 I would not put the carpet material in cupboards where dishes or pots & pans are to be stored. Our experience was those items slide around and clink on one another going down the road. We found the rubberized shelving material worked better for those areas. What I bought in a carpet like material for the other cupboards was a rather thin runner type carpet. It usually comes in 3' to 6' widths is bought by the foot and is sort of stiff. But once cut to size if lays flat in the cupboards and no adhesive needed making it easy to remove for cleaning.
