OK... MotorHome Ordered... check...

Anyone have advice on what we need to outfit the MH? What did you buy, over time, that made it "Whole?"

Thanks
Mike

  • I was always told when buying items to supply your coach Think Light! The best item I ever bought for my coach was a dehumidifier! It's on everyday and I have to empty it twice a week! I would have liked to of bought it when my coach was new, but no one suggested it! I can't tell you the gallons of water that went down in the sink instead of down my windshield (inside the coach) rusting out the lower windshield brackets that are out of site. I keep it on and in between the 2 front windshields when I'm not traveling!

    We just ordered a 2015 Ventana 4037. Let's see who's comes in first. :)

When did they say your's would would be delivered? I got a Jan/Feb estimate.

BTW, we're planning on just moving 3/4 of the junk we have in the old MH to the new one and throwing 1/4 of it out. LOL.

I did just buy a new ADCO cover for it. The wife is planning on getting new matching sheets and towels, and an induction cook set for the new induction cook top, that's about it for us.
  • A couple of nice paper towel holders.
A complete tool box with lots of wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
A 12 volt digital meter for checking batteries.
    Jumper cables.
Key rack/key holder for all your sets of car keys and coach keys.
Extra oil/coolant/etc. and the correct funnels to fill what needs to be filled.
A few of square pieces of wood larger than the jack pads, for when you put your jacks down on soft ground.
  • A good quality surge protector to protect this very large investment, no one should leave home without one. I installed a LCHW50 - 50 Amp Hardwired Electrical Protection System from progressive with the remote display. It has saved my MH from low and high voltages and loss of ground on more than one occasion. Yes a bit expensive but a lot less than replacing all your electrical stuff in that new unit with a lightening strike or a power surge. Warranted for life. I suggested to my brother in law to get one and he said he didn't need one, well he went home from that camping trip and the RV took a lightening strike a couple of blocks away with over $8000 damage. Just my humble opinion to add to your bucket list.
    Blessings;kdk
  • There's not much a new DS will need, except for your personal items. We bought ours new in January off the lot. If you ordered yours, it should be pretty much ready to go. Here's what we've done to ours, mainly because I like projects:

-I exchanged the sat dome for a Winegard Travler.

-Upgrade your microwave from the Frigidaire to the Advantium if you still can.

-I replaced the front hood support rod with pistons.

-We replaced the Sleep Number bed with a pillow top.

-Added the ProFill battery watering system.

-Added a SaniCon macerator, had one before.

-Ours had a pantry next to the refer. We ordered two extra drawers from Newmar, there is actually room for three more.

-They mount the driver's mirror up against the driver's window. I turned it out so that it was farther away....you'll see what I mean.

    INSIDE:

We bought bathroom towels, shower mat, bath carpet, trash cans, new plates, silverware and bedding. We also bought things like clear plastic bins for the refer to keep things from moving, like sodas and condiments.

I've done a ton of things to my "new baby". It's my hot rod and I like personalizing things and making things fit. Ours is a 4018 and the storage is limited because of the tag. There is no storage past the rear wheels on either side.

PM me for ideas or to talk about what I've done.
