  • If that is the case, then more roadtrek shenanigans on battery capacity claims - their 400 ah claim must be 6 volts, so it's more like 200 ah on 12v. If it's lipo, then 80% of that is useable capacity, if it's AGM, then 50%. So I'd agree that this van doesn't have enough battery capacity for my liking.

The pictures we saw earlier sure looked like lipo's, so I had hopes they were talking 400 ah at 12v. Maybe the base is 2, 6 volt AGM's and there is an upgrade to lithiums.

Got my hands on the brochure info...

The tank sizes are pretty decent

    35 Fresh
    19 Black
    20 Gray

    2 6v AGM batteries

The 5cf fridge is only 12v?? (is that enough battery for this on the road?)

Water Heater is only propane (?)

mumkin 12 volt compressor fridges use very low amps(4 dc amps) it is not the same as a 3 way on 12 volt-which is heating a boiler.

by the way where did you get brochure thanks

  • I was thinking that since they had gone to the expense of making the advertising materials, they must have the inside track on what RAM is doing in North America.

My theory is since they had just tooled the new plant in Mexico to build the Promaster, that North America would be one design cycle behind Europe - that it might be 2 or 3 years before we got the new bits. But maybe I'm wrong. If it's not much more than the front clip and lights, then it's just a parts swap out. So maybe we're getting a mid-cycle upgrade like Mercedes did with the Sprinter.
  • Here's a picture of the new Ducato style from the Fiat Australia site. Maybe Roadtek will release a B like that.

  • Looks quite sensibly designed and useable. Didn't show the full bathroom but I assume it is a wet bath setup. Needs a foldup counter extension. Otherwise, it is a good alternative to a typical Sprinter layout with added cupboard space down below and a big fridge. Price will be critical but at 82K or so it should be a good seller. I noticed the electric fold down couch thing was like a two rear bed system with room to get up and go to the bathroom, wherever it is up front without tripping over your bed pal, a problem with some plans.
  • Good catch. I wasn't aware of the new style. It looks much better, I wonder if there are any changes beside cosmetic.

Look at the placard in that pic! They are showing a van with the new Ducato front end. It MUST be in the pipeline for North America next year!

Roadtrek has made an attractive exterior by going all glass, and painting the black bits. It will be even better with the sleek new front end design.
  • From what Campskunk said, it seemed to have been named that after Zion National Park.

The layout is decent, and RT engineered around the large wheel well intrusion by making the area drawer space.

The price is also right, although as usual, I hope a gasoline generator is an option, because I really don't like the thought of idling the vehicle's engine when camping on a hot, humid night. Most people don't need this (as they usually are at some place with hookups), but since I camp at renaissance faires in Texas where it can be quite hot and humid at night, having this option is important... although a swing away bracket and a Honda eu2000i can work if everything else about the rig is good.
