New tires

Need to replace my tires on our 38ft Safari. Have 9R 22.5/12 Mich XZE they are 12 years old. I know we're way over due. Guess MIch doesn't make this model anymore. Could use help in what would be the best replacement.
Know there are a lot of threads on this topic but looking for a fresh view point. Thanks for all the feedback in advance.

  • Reasonable replacements for the 9R22.5 are:

    Michelin 255/80R22.5
    Other brand 265/75R22.5

You likely have 6.75" wheels, which will limit you from going larger (and there is no reason to go larger than that).

If an FMCA member, check out pricing on both Michelin and Continental tire.
  • In July of 2015 we replaced our Michelins XZA's with Bridgestone Ecopia R283 (295/75R22.5, LR H, 16 ply). The Michelins had an odd size that was unique to them (I don't recall the size exactly), but the dealer provided an equivalent that was within a 3/8" difference in diameter. The total cost was $2,891.24 out the door plus we also received a check for $160 for two of the tires that didn't have excessive sidewall cracking.

Just have your local tire shop give you the best equivalent in a metric size truck tire and be done with it.
Ask about the Hercules and Continental brands, while you're at it and probably the best bang for the buck.
  • We changed our Goodyears to Toyo's five years ago and have had no issues with them.

I think we paid $3200 for all six which included installation and balance.
