What chassis is it on? If a Ford F53 and the frame mounted fuel filter is real cruddy with "rust" think about a fuel tank cleaning and changing out the in tank fuel pump. After 6-7 fuel filters in 3000 miles the pump on our 98 Intruder went on a trip in 2005. Do a search on these forums for "F53 fuel pump" and over a year old posts, it will be informative. Another reason to check the fuel pump. Our 2004 B+ on a Chevrolet 3500 chassis had 8,000 miles on it at purchase in April 2012. That same summer it lost the in tank fuel fuel pump at around 12,000 miles, it had sat unused for several years without fuel stabilizer before we bought it. Both times the fuel pump cost was about $800 for replacement while on a trip.
