Just an update.. Cold and snow here in Wisconsin. As some of you know we are living in the RV for now due to circumstance. I have put work into the unit to winterize which I am more than happy to pass on for anyone wanting it.
We have already experienced temps in the teens as well as snow. So far we are not having any issues with cold etc. The first days of real cold showed us some small areas that we needed to close or fill in due to drafts but for the most part, things have gone pretty well.
We are using about 50-60 gallons of propane over a month period which includes furnace, stove and water heater in full use. The main bedroom we also have a small electric ceramic heater with thermostat which we turn on at night and lower the furnace temp for the rest of the unit. We can seal off the back bedroom with the partition.
Also, I decided to use both straw and insul board around the unit to keep wind from under the RV. That works pretty well it seems.
Finally, along with heated water hose, we also put another small ceramic heater back in the water tank and inlet area with its thermostat set to 45 degrees. Surprisingly it runs maybe 3 minutes every hour where I actually thought it would run a whole lot more. That area must be better insulated than I thought.
Anyhow, so far we are comfy and heating to about 70 degrees consistent without major temp fluctuations inside. Oh we also added a small portable manual dehumidifier unit that hangs on the wall.. it changes color as it sucks moisture and you just plug it in to reset it them hang it back up again once the beads turn blue again.. So far we have had no problems with moisture or condensation on the windows and this little unit cost about $25!
Anyhow that is the latest.. We did a few other things as well but unless someone wants to know the specifics I will refrain from typing anymore...
