New York State Inspection

Have a 2000 Winnebago Brave 33, gasoline powered and registered in New York State. Is a state inspection required ? I know in New Jersey they are no longer required.

  • If your motorhome GVW is under 18,000 lbs, it's classed as Group 1 Light Vehicle and can be inspected by any inspector that's Group 1 qualified (most are). The inspection facility must have a bay large enough to bring the vehicle inside though, they are no longer permitted to do inspections outside for some reason. Group 1 vehicle owners over 10,000 lbs can also request a "Heavy" Group 2 inspection instead of a Group 1, in which case the inspector must be Group 2 qualified of course.

  • Welcome to the fourm. I believe inspections are required if you can believe the internet.

  • I'm surprised the NY vehicle department didn't answer your question in an on-line website!
