Just curious, if you leave your motor home in Florida, say, 7 months, who takes care of the batteries, is it plugged into 120v while gone, who starts the engine and generator every month and exercise them?

No yearly inspection in Maryland so I don't worry about it-----Back years ago when we had an inspection sticker I came back from down South and the State Police had a road block set up checking them. Mine was fine and they just waved me on but my license plate had expired 3mos previous and they never noticed!!!!!!

Vehicle inspections only apply to your home state.. In Pennsylvania, Once you leave to state your vehicle inspection means nothing until you return to Pa... And then you have 15 days to get it re-inspected.. I think most states are like this..

You heve 30 days to have the vehicle inspected after you return to Maine. If you never return the vehicle to Maine it does not needed to be inspected.

But, according to FL, after the vehicle has been in FL longer than 6 months, FL requires that it be registered in FL.

What can I do if my New York State inspection expires while my vehicle is in another state?

Determine if an expired out-of-state inspection is a violation of law in that state. Ask the authorities if a NYS inspection extension sticker prevents a ticket for the violation. A NYS inspection extension allows you 10 days from the date the vehicle returns to New York State to get a NYS inspection done.

Allow 14 days for the DMV to process and mail your extension sticker. You will need it before you return your vehicle to New York.

To receive an inspection extension, send the following information

your name and current out-of-state mailing address
the year and make of your vehicle
your NYS vehicle plate number
your inspection sticker number and expiration date

Mail the information to

NYS DMV Bureau of Consumer and Facility Services
Inspection Extension
P.O. Box 2700-ESP
Albany, NY 12220-0700

When you receive your extension sticker, do not put the extension sticker on your windshield while your vehicle is out of state (keep the sticker and the instructions in your vehicle to show to an out-of-state police officer). The sticker is not a guarantee that a police officer will not issue a traffic ticket.

Other states would be very unlikely to cite an out of stater for having an outdated inspection sticker, since they have not broken any laws of the state they happen to be in. I'm not aware of any states with reciprocal vehicle inspection laws.

Usually you will need to get it inspected as soon as you return to your home state.
