I paid for it when it was built with my taxes, and again, and again, and again. and again, and again. Tolls have paid for these projects over and over and over. And don't cite maintenance... The Chesapeake Bay bridge has had to have it's deck repeatedly replaced because the idiot civil engineers designed the system wrong and then couldn't get it built right. A check of NY road conditions sure shows the money isn't going to repairs. These tolls are a cash cow that pay for our politician's high lifestyle, unbelievably inept management and any other social program that can buy them votes to stay in office.
