When we decided to move up to something other than a travel trailer and pickup truck, we considered both a class C and class A gas motorhome. Our decision to go with our 34' Bay Star was based upon more storage space, and the ability to use the driver/passenger seats for seating when not driving. Also, we found that we could do just as well price wise looking at a used class A as we could looking for a used class C when one of our requirements was automatic levelers which are becoming more common on newer class C motorhomes. I can't compare how they handle, but our Bay Star already had Summo springs and stabilizers added, so it handled quite well when we bought it, and it is even better after replacing the tires and having the front end aligned, which had not been done since it left the factory in spite of Newmar recommending that it be done after loading the motorhome with gear.
I find the Bay Star to be pretty good on good to average roads. On bad roads, there's no escaping the rougher ride and increased noise. Since we only travel 300 to 350 miles per day (at the max), I think we'll be happy with the motorhome. If we wanted to drive more miles per day or were full timers, I would want a diesel pusher for the better ride, but I wouldn't be crazy about the higer maintenance cost.
