HughesNet is the provider in the U.S. for MOBILE satellite Internet service. I do not know who is a provider in Canada.
There are a few other satellite Internet providers in the U.S.: Excede, DishNet, WildBlue. I think all are currently marketing service only to stationary locations, using the technology to fill in locations where homes cannot get "fast" connections from cable TV, telephone companies or local microwave providers.
Satellite TV providers here offering Internet as part of a package do not always use a satellite connection. At my location, both Dish and DirecTV contract the Internet connection through a DSL provider.
