Camp out in Western US near the coast in the summer and you'll be fine. Besides, there's a hell of a lot more areas to boondock out here than in the Eastern part. Might want to get yourself familiar with BLM land (Bureau Of Land Management). These are public areas that are not National, State or local parks.

EDIT: Also, camping in high elevations out West will be cooler too for the most part. Maybe I should ask what temperatures do you consider tolerable for camping.
