Newbie to do first outing

Enjoy your State Park outing - no need to focus on breakdowns which are rare and extremely rare in a new RV. No need to camp on your driveway or prepare lengthy checklist of things to bring - only thing you have to bring is a good attitude and a credit card. Just my 02.

OP, you don't say how old, how many miles or what work you're having done to it, or the condition of the vehicle.
You should only be equally as concerned about a breakdown as you would with a car of similar age miles and condition.
Your class C is basically a 1 ton Chevy or Ford truck chassis and drivetrain. As reliable as any similar truck.
If your concern is due to it being old and in not so great mechanical shape, then I'd say it's a valid concern. If it's just becasue you haven't had a motorhome before but it's in good order, then I wouldn't be very worried. No more than if you feel having roadside service on your car is necessary.

To ease your mind, go drive it a bunch. It's 24' so you can drive it anywhere, which will probably help you become familiar with maneuvering it in traffic and tight areas. Also, putting some miles and hours on it will either reinforce it's reliability or potentially uncover items that need work.

Tell us about the rv and maybe you can get specific suggestions as to things that need attention due to age or miles or brand.

About 10 years ago right before our maiden voyage in our first RV I purchased a coachnet subscription. I think it was about $100 if memory serves. My wife was pretty irritated and thought it was a waste of money. Fast forward a few days later and we are on our trip, it was a cold Sunday downtown Pittsburgh and our car broke down. Called Coachnet, they asked if we were in a safe location and they started things rolling. Called back 10 minutes later to check on us and say they could not find anyone in their network but they would start going through the yellow pages to find someone. Another 20 minutes and they called back and said a tow truck was on his way and stayed on the phone with us til they got there and knew we were ok. They towed us back to the CG - about 40 miles - no charge. The tow driver said he liked that Coachnet paid him right away - unlike GS which invoices discounted rate checks monthly. Said he often dodges GS calls because they are a hassle to deal with and get paid. Said he was signing up to be in the CN network.

Anyway, that was our very first outing and CN came through and the service paid for itself in a week. Wife wasn't so mad after that.

Never used AAA or a roadside service in 55 years of being a Road Warrior.

You Know What Guy?

It almost doesn't matter.
Just get the paperwork from each and read them throughly.
In 15 years and 70Kmiles+, we have needed help just twice. If you are in a state that has a AAA presence and you have RV+, they are as good as any other. None of them own the service/two trucks, they contract with local companies.

FMCA has a road service plan, so does Coachnet and Good Sams. You have to read the fine print. If you can change a tire on your own or keep track of your fuel inventory, then there is not much need.

If anything happens, it is going to cost you money. That is why towing is a big issue. Your insurance may offer towing.

In 30 years we have only once needed road service, two flat tires, changed the first one myself, then a second one down the road a ways. Called a local place in that area, and the fee was very reasonable, paid him and went on our way.

When we owned a Class C, we had AAA Plus with RV. The Plus gives you four 100 mile tows and if you need to tow farther, you just pay the extra miles.

We are in the AAA South region. We had a blow out on our Class C a few years ago and AAA covered it. We did have to wait a little while though. Never had to tow the Class C, but we did have AAA tow our Hybrid TT and tow vehicle, both times because the tow vehicle broke down. We have used AAA outside our region several times (including one of the tows of HTT and TV) and have never had a problem.

One thing to keep in mind, there is a 7 day waiting period to get the RV portion of AAA, at least there was when we added it.

We like AAA because it usually pays for itself in discounts from Restaurants, hotels, campgrounds, etc.

I use Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Have had several positive experiences with them. Couldn't tell you which service is best. But I will say that before you make your decision, be sure to find out how far they will tow, whether they will cover motorhomes or just towables (Good Sam has different memberships for each), if they will tow you only to "nearest service provider" or anywhere that you want, and how many service calls per year (if there is a limit).

That comment brought back a memory when I once tried to use an Mobil/Exxon road service back in 2009. I called from the Canadian border in Pittsburg ,NH and they said "Pittsburg where ?, N.H. ? oh, we don't have anybody that will go there ." :B
Not really what I wanted to hear at 9 PM at minus 20F, but I believed it because sometimes during mid-week, I think I'm the only person up there.

Good advice to try it out close to home first.

I use Coach-net road service for my rv, trailers and any vehicle that I happen to be in.
No limit on how often I use it annually. Some companies plans have a maximum, just look into that, whatever company you choose.
I have an elderly female friend who keeps calling her road service for dead battery issues on a car she seldom drives and they cut her off once she reached her yearly limit, I think it was 3x.
