Newport Oregon to Fort Collins Co

We are headed out to Seaside first week in June from Rigby Idaho to a Ham Radio convention. We are going to stop at McMinnville to see the Spruce Goose. From Bend we are going to take 20 into the mountains where the road splits, 20 to the south and 22 to the north. Which route is best. I have heard that even at that time of the year either route could be closed from snow. We will be driving a 23 foot MH V-10, is one route better then the other for steep passes.
