Would NOT. Awhile ago I had a one-ton Dodge passenger van. Came with some nice Goodyear tires 8.00/16.5 (note no "R" - these things were bias ply OEM on a 1971. Quite a few years later it needed tires and I decided on two new tires for the front and the spare (never used) plus a never-used "new" tire (label on it) I found at the Firestone dealer. The tires wore out in half the miles the originals had! The goody had gone out of that rubber!
By the way I got "take offs" for the front. I later learned that a commercial customer isn't going to have tires "taken off" because s/he doesn't like the look. It's going to be for some more fundamental reason. In my case, never could get a smooth ride. Balance? Ply shifts? I don't know. Before long I got our first set of radials and they were wonderful...
I have an unused spare in our coach from when it was new in 2002. Afraid to run it. I've had old tires fail catastrophically and it's not pretty.
