No fuel to Generator.

2000 Itasca Suncruiser 35u. Bought the coach 2 weeks ago and am going through a few things that need attention. On of which is the Genset. This unit has the Onan Emerald 5000 generator. It's got spark but has a no fuel situation. I figured it was a gummed carb but much to my surprise it's a fuel supply issue. Is there a valve of some sort that can be turned on and off to supply the generator with fuel? I pulled the fuel supply line which I'm assuming comes directly from the coach's fuel tank and there wasn't anything there. I was pulling the line from the inlet side of the generators fuel pump. I tried tracing the line back to the tank but it runs up into the coaches center section and I couldn't do so. I currently have a little over half tank of fuel in the fuel tank.

Any help with this is appreciated!

  • The OP stated he had over half a tank of fuel so that shouldn't be an issue. If you try to start the generator at the gen set you should be able to hear the electric fuel pump run. If not could be electrical problem or starter is bad. Good luck and let us know.
  • If your gas tank is low (1/3 to 1/4 tank depending on coach) it will not pull fuel from it for the gen, this is so you don't run the gen and run out of fuel leaving you stranded.
