Norcold door gaskets

07 HR Ambassador DP with a Norcold quad door fridge. Two freeze doors on top two fridge doors below. We have a severe icing problem in both freezers. Problem is likely defective door gaskets, but I can't find a source. In my limited search the only thing I find is to replace the doors. (Sounds stupid to me, but you have to be a bit nuts to F/T with a wife 2 dogs and an old large cat named Fred.
Any help always good! Love this site thanks to all who moderate and those who pitch your wisdom our way.

  • A repairman told me to try heating them with a hair dryer. Sometimes it makes them seal better. Keep the dryer moving and be careful you don'T melt the plastic interior of the door.
  • The seals on our 3 year old replacement lower doors on our 1200 are failing again. This means another set of replacement doors, good thing is they'll "only" cost the $500 deducible again, on our Good Sam Extended Service Plan. What a rip!
  • How long between defrosts. If find the ice maker side requires defrosting every 45 days or so and the other side quite a bit longer.

We go in the freezer doors about 4X a day which also makes a differance.
  • Nor cold quoted me about $660 per door 3 or 4 years ago. No gaskets available.
  • There are no gaskets available. Period. No wonder Norcold has such a bad reputation! I think the doors are about $800.

  • Give these guys a try...

They were able to help me with a couple oddball appliance parts and their site does claim to have fridge door gaskets. They have an online parts catalog you can search, or give them a call.
  • Norcold only sells complete doors, no replacement gaskets. Frost is
normal on full timers. The test is to defrost and do a dollar bill test. You insert a dollar bill at all areas with the door closed and you should feel the friction when pulling it thru the gasket. The odds of BOTH doors having worn out gaskets is rare. Make sure that you do NOT have anything in the freezer that would push against the doors to keep them from fully closing and sealing completely. Doug
  • I would be tempted to try a little DIY fix first. Buy a roll of soft, self stick gasket from Home Depot/Lowes and try that. Use the dollar bill pull test to check the sealing.
