norcold freezer

Yesterday I cleared out all the ice that was packed around the ice machine that has been turned off and around the back, now the ice machine is making a sound as if its working but the freezer its very cold, ice not freezing very well. Any thoughts as to what I may have done? I did use a hammer lightly the hit the ice to break it off.
