Norcold fridge door gaskets/seals

Have a norcold series 1210 fridge in our Discovery and the door gaskets needs replaced, anyone ever experience this? One place I contacted told me I have to replace the entire doors????

Thank you in advance, Barney
  • Maybe Doug will see this.

My research says the same replace door or doors.

I do not see anything that shows the seal.
  • Been that way for years, you must replace the complete door assembly. Not cheap at all. Probably can buy a residential refrigerator for less money.
  • Just a thought...we thought we needed to replace the seals on our Dometic due to frost etc. did the dollar bill test etc. Well....Guess what it just wasn't closing all the way. We put a piece of something at the top where the latch is and wooo hoo. Problem solved. I had already ordered the new seals so was out that money but from what I heard they are a disaster to replace. Check when the door is closed if you can move it quite a bit, if so jimmy it up at the top.

Not sure I understand what you are saying, anyway you can explain what you did better? Or include pictures, or send me pictured to my email or phone.
    Thank you, Barney
  • I'll try to explain since our MH is in storage. Look at the top where the doors lock in place. We had some movement up there so took a piece of plastic and cut it to make a tighter fit. When door locks in place now there is no wiggle room. Hope that helps. If not let me know and I'll try to get some pics for you. Kathie

    Thank you, Barney
  • Norcold replied to my email and stated they DO NOT sell gaskets for them you have to replace the doors. Will do as suggested and try adjusting them to close tighter.

Thank you all for the replies, Barney

I had the same issue with my Norcold door that did not pass the dollar bill test. What I did to fix it was to remove the black plastic latch and remove about .050 of the back side with a grinder or sander and reinstalled the latch. This pulled the door tighter to the seal keeping the warm air out.

What wrong with your gaskets? On mine, they had split where the skinny single layer part meets the accordion part, but everything was still there. So I put 1" gorilla tape on them to reconstitute the flat surface. Fixed it right up.
