For those contemplating installing a residential, Samsung according to their web site "frequently asked questions" says their refers will run on a modified sign wave inverter as the incoming 120 volt AC current is converted to a DC (direct current) and the refer runs on this DC voltage. I found this out after purchasing a pure sine wave inverter that a repair tech said I needed. I had a control panel failure and he said it was caused by the modified sine wave, later found out they (Samsung) had a problem with some early versions of this panel.
My 24.5 cu.ft. Samsung has been running 24/7 for a year and a half now and love it. These new refers run so efficiently that mine will run on 4 house batteries for approximately for over 24 hours with out recharging with limited door openings.
